15 Year Anniversary of Tailgate Party I
Hard to believe it all started in 1996. That was the day Florida State beat Florida. And we all watched it, freezing our asses off in the garage. When the game was over, NDH34 refused to leave the garage. Instead, he sat in a beach chair wearing a sombrero. And he drank heavily. (Not to be outdone, SJH24 slept-slash-passed-out while sitting up.)
Good times.
Good times.

"Everyone know who we are..."
A long three-month season of flag football came to an end Tuesday night. And it ended just like the 2008 and 2009 seasons did.
C-H-A-M-P-I-O-N-S-H-I-P!
Your Flag Football Bucs swatted away the Saints to the tune of 19-0 and finished the season 12-0-1. (More on that f*cking tie from Hell Week another day.)
Our two week offensive funk (definitely related to the cold November weather) continued for much of the first half Tuesday. We went four and out on our first possession. Our 46 D was in vintage form and made interceptions on the next two possessions, giving us a short field to play with. Finally, with just 5 seconds left in the half, we nailed a touchdown pass and the extra point to take a 7-zip lead into halftime.
The other team had pissed us off in warm-ups when, after winning the coin toss, they announced they were playing defense first and taking the ball in the second half. (We were the only team to do that all season.) So once we stopped them after halftime and trotted out our offense, we went right for the throat.

We lined up trips left with one receiver wide right. The Playmaker snapped the ball to the QB. The trips left kids all did down and outs. The wide right kid ran straight for The Playmaker's defender and did what he was coached to do: run an illegal pick, which allowed The Diesel to sneak out to the right sideline all by himself. The QB zinged a 10 yard pass and watched as The Playmaker snagged it and then outraced the free safety down the sideline to the end zone some 40 yards later. (Take the ball deep ... Take the top off the defense ...) On our next possession, we scored again to create the final score of 19-0.
And, of course, we wore our Championship Medal to school the next day.

The Mayor gets favors...
A huge thanks to Big George for coming over today and comping us on the shutdown of our underground sprinkler system!
