The Playmaker turns 11 today. And, yes, he's still the best boy in the world!
(And for Halloween, he's going to be Andrew Bynum.)

AAU...
The Playmaker's AAU team had a tournament over the weekend. They won both games Saturday to advance to the semifinals yesterday, before getting absolutely crushed, 44-18. In the first game, he played OK. The other team was small, but extremely quick; they pressed the whole game. The Playmaker had 2 points (1-1 shooting) and 2 rebounds. His best game was the afternoon one. He had 4 points (a perfect 4-4 from the foul line), 4 rebounds and 2 assists. Yesterday was a bad game for him, as well as for his team. He started at shooting guard, but the other team's full court zone trap overwhelmed him -- he had three quick turnovers and got yanked from the game. When he came back, the route was on and the full court trap was off. He had zero points (on no shots), 2 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 steal.

Late day fantasy...
We went 2-0 in fantasy for the second weekend in a row last week. In our Play for Pay league, we won, 151-67. Aaron Rodgers (40), A.J. Green (38) and Jeremy Maclin (31) led the way. We are in first place with an undefeated record. In our Family Fun league, we won, 83-71. With Drew Brees on bye, Matt Ryan stunk up the joint with a piss-poor 8 points. Thank goodness for the aforementioned Green (25). We are in first place at 4-2.

Whatever...
Lost in flag last night. But at least we covered the spread, losing "only" 19-6. The Playmaker threw for our only TD of the night. It was a 12 yard curl pattern, caught by his favorite target -- his AAU teammate/tight end. We are now 3-3 for the season.

Everyone know who we are, 4.0
We got whupped in flag last Thursday, 33-14. That puts our record at 3-2. (Tomorrow we will be 3-3, as we play the best team in the league tonight. We're something like 30 point dogs.) Anyway, The Playmaker played well. He recorded his fifth interception in five games. On offense, he scored the first touchdown of the game for us (first play coming out of halftime). He lined up at QB in the shotgun and handed the ball to the running back heading right. The Playmaker then peeled away to the left, where he caught the halfback option pass and screwed down the sideline all the way into the end zone. He then caught the 2 point conversion.

Says it all...
Breaking News: Andy Reid sucks. So does Juan Castillo. And the Wide 9 is for losers , which is what we are. Go get Pat Fitzgerald for 2014

Our latest fantasy...
We crushed it again this week in fantasy, winning both of our games. In our Play for Pay league, we won, 131-81. The Bears' D was our top performer, with 28 points. A.J. Green (21) continued his stellar season and Aaron Rodgers (24) finally did something. We are 4-0 for the year, the only undefeated team in the league. In our Family Fun league, we won, 127-89, to take over first place with a mighty 3-2 record. Drew Brees (28) and UMass Man Victor Cruz (23) led the way.

Everyone know who we are, 3.0
Somehow, some way, with the youngest team in the league (we don't have a single 6th grader) we are a sparkling 3-1 in flag football. (Note: reality check is right around the corner next week when we face the two undefeated teams.)
And so it was last night as Your Flag Football Cowboys won, 27-13. It was our highest scoring output of the season. The Playmaker set the tone early (very early) by making an interception on the second play of the game, which gave our offense a short field to work with. That gives him four interceptions in four games. On offense, he had a touchdown reception. He ran a seven yard curl route in traffic, made the grab and raced 10 more yards to reach the end zone.
Good stuff.

Suh-weeeeet...
This is very cool. Yet another reason why college football is the best sport around. Also, little known fact: We were born in West Virginia.

Everyone know who we are...
Different night. Little different situation. But definitely the same outcome as last Thursday's game (when The Playmaker threw the winning TD pass).
We are trailing last night, 18-13, with about 8 minutes to go in the flag football game. Third down. Incomplete pass. But the ref decides to throw a flag on The Playmaker for lining up offsides. In five years of flag, we've never even seen a flag thrown. So after much confusion/debate, the other coach decides to "take" the penalty. That moves the ball back to our one yard line, but it also gives us our third down play over again. (Stupid move, coach.) Our second third down play results in another incompletion. Had the coach not taken the penalty, that would have been a turnover on downs.
Alas, he did take the penalty -- which gave us an extra play. And so on fourth down our QB takes the shotgun snap in his own end zone and rolls right. The Playmaker had started wide left and run a drag route across the field. He comes free along the right sideline and makes the catch 10 yards down field. He somehow eludes his defender and travels 10 more yards, giving us a first down. But he's not done/down. He continues motoring down the sideline and outraces one more defender to the end zone.
19-18. Cowboys win.
Woo! Hoo!
For the game, The Playmaker had 3 catches (including one on the final play where he was tackled one yard short of the end zone) and one interception on defense (his third of the season). We are now in second place with a record of 2-1.

Sharing our fantasy
We went 1-1 this past weekend in fantasy. We lost (to The Playmaker) in our four team family league, 137-110. Drew Brees (29 pts), A.J. Green (17 points) and waiver-find Alfred Morris (17 pts) all came to play. Unfortunately, The Johnson Boys (Calvin & Andre) did not (a combined 10 pts). The Playmaker was aided by Tom Brady (31 pts) and the 49ers' D (27 pts). In our 15 team Play for Pay League, we improved to a league best 3-0 (we had our bye two weeks ago) with a 159-86 beat-down. Aaron Rodgers (29), A.J. Green (26) and Torrey Smith (31) lit it up; the Bears' D gave us 23. And we are proud of our waiver wire work with the tight end position. After losing Aaron Hernandez week one, we picked up Heath Miller. He gave us 26(!) points last week. With the Steelers on bye last Sunday, we grabbed Carolina TE Greg Olsen. He came up big with 20 points.

Eagles defeat Giants/Refs
Those two interference calls in the final 90 seconds that went against the Eagles were absolutely bullsheet last night. Still, they were able to overcome (thanks, in part, to Tom Coughlin not trying to squeeze out five more yards with 19 seconds to play) and leave The Link with a W.
3-1. First place.
