Indeed...

"He switched the search to 'Lucas Davenport' and got more than four thousand hits. He read through the length of Davenport's career: the man was a killer, and controversial, but somehow had climbed into an influential post with the state police."

Well done...

The Playmaker's summer league team improved to 2-0 with an early (5 PM tip) W tonight.  The Playmaker, who started at the two, scored 6 points (3-5 shooting) and had 2 steals and 2 rebounds.

Seriously?!?

Team baseball party today.  Somehow the after party moved to our house.  Ten pounds of grilled swordfish later, the thing ended.  Classic.

Major progress...

In the basement.  Not The Basement, mind you.  But the basement.

A busy day. Busy good.

Too much to recap.  Will do so tomorrow.

Wednesday, June 20, 2012

Ahhhh, yes...

We didn't have a single snow day this past winter.  In the world of pay-me-now, pay-me-later, teachers paid early.  Really early.  So where as last year the first day of summer vacation was June 29(!), this time around it's June 20 -- as in today.  (The Playmaker and The Playmaker's Sister are done tomorrow.)

Our goal this summer (other than having a relaxing and healthy one with The Family) is to get something -- something! -- accomplished every day.  And, yes, of course we have ... wait for it ... a LIST.  Yesterday, after getting out of school at 10:30, we cleaned out the two coffee tables in the family room, as well as the nightstand in our bedroom.  (***You just can't get this info anywhere else...) Today, we had the oil changed on the car and finally got around to watching The Social Network (which we would rate 6.5 out of 10).

Another goal, which we failed to achieve last summer, is to take one picture every day.  Could be something we did, something we bought, a dish we ate, a book we finished.  Anything.  Today's picture (not yet taken, of course) will be of the aforementioned pristine coffee tables.

Lastly, as is our annual tradition on this day, here are some 90210 first day of summer videos. Enjoy!

Bummer...

Lost the championship tonight, 8-5.  Down 5-zip, battled back to tie it 5-5 heading into the 5th inning.  Defense then fell apart.  The Playmaker was 0-2 with an RBI.

Rainout...

Championship will now be played tomorrow night.

Tuesday, June 12, 2012

(Again) Everyone know who we are...

We advanced to the baseball championship for the second consecutive year with a 14-1 blowout victory last night.  The Playmaker again led the way, going 3-3 with 2 RBIs, 3 runs scored and 1 stolen base.  His RBIs came on a two out bases loaded line drive double to the gap in left-center.  On defense he played first base, shortstop and center field.  The championship is slated for tomorrow night, weather permitting.  In less than an hour we'll be doing our daily batting practice session.  Time to go work.

Everyone know who we are...

We won our playoff game Saturday, 7-4, to advance to tonight's semi-final round.  The Playmaker led the way on offense, going 3-4 with 2 RBIs, 3 runs scored and 3 stolen bases.  He scored the key runs for us, the first and last of the game.  On defense he played first base, second base and center field.

Ugh...

Three & Out...

1. Tried running this morning!  Got about 10 steps and had to stop.  The pain in the heel was too great.  So we walked three miles.  Hopefully the replacement part for The Elliptical arrives next week.

2. We have our playoff game today!  Win and we advance to the semi-finals (single elimination this year).  Things are opening up.  The top seed has already fallen, as has the fourth seed (with the best pitcher in the league).

3. Take the Celtics +8 tonight!  Not only will they easily cover that foolish number, but we think they will win outright.  Hope we're wrong.

Rained out...

Still waiting to play our first round playoff game.

Shutting it down...

Squeezed out four more miles this morning before having to walk a mile as our right heel was experiencing excruciating pain.  After four straight days of running the track, we will be shutting it down for at least a couple of days.  We can only hope the new elliptical parts arrive early next week.

Tuesday, June 5, 2012

Here's what we have...

A beard.  Two tender quads.  An extremely sore right heel.  And the limp of a 75-year old man.

Monday, June 4, 2012

Sheeeeet...

Busted something on/in The Elliptical Saturday morning. As such, we are now forced to run outside for the first time since last August in The Basement. Four miles yesterday. Four more today. Whole lower body is aching. Quads are on fire. Ugh.

UNDEFEATED...

Finished the lacrosse season today with a 13-2 smoke show.  Our record ended up a shiny 13-0-1The Playmaker finished the season with 2 goals and 5 assists.

Saturday, June 2, 2012

Got the rain (out) we needed...

So we are the six seed and play the three seed next week, a team we are 2-0 against this year.  Also, the weather allowed The Playmaker to work on his school project: The History of the Philadelphia Phillies.

Pray for rain

A rain out tomorrow will end the regular season and give us a great match-up in next week's baseball playoffs.
