March Madness, Day 1 ... {Harvard Edition}

Wow.  What a great first day.  Was home by 2:15 to watch games.  Out from 6-7:30 at AAU practice.  Then watched from 8-1.

Randoms:

1. Great performance by Harvard!  Duh, right?!?  They shot well enough, exposed New Mexico for the frauds they are, and put Steve Alford on the hot seat.  And they got their first March Madness win ever.

2. Jay Bilas and Greg Anthony are still the smartest guys on the college basketball block!  Could listen to them all day.

3. Doug Gottlieb is a total sheeeeet stirer!  He speaks his mind, and he goes out of his way to tweak people.  He couldn't stop slapping Harvard with, "They have relaxed their admissions standards with the basketball team."  Classic.  And he basically said Pitt's starting point guard was not a D-1 player.  Love the guy.

4. What's up with New Mexico State's Sim Bhullar?!?  Seriously, watch the highlights from yesterday's NMSU loss to St. Louis.  The kid's a laugh a minute.  He's about 7'5", 370, no lie, and he gets up the court as fast as we do.  Good gawd, man, he's slower then Big Z was back in the day for the Cavaliers.  It's also a solid bet hat the kid undoubtedly drinks a lot.  Just look at him.

5. Speaking of drinking, let's welcome back Colorado State Coach Larry Eustachy to the Big Dance!  Google his name from his Iowa State days.  The pics are epic.

6. The mailman delivered our package of Louisville gear yesterday!  The Playmaker wore is official Gorgui Dieng jersey to AAU.  And he's wearing it to school today, as well.

7. Having every game on TV, spanning four different channels, is perhaps the greatest advancement in sporting television!  Ever.

8. Finally, we are taking our annual March Madness Personal Day today!  Don't call or text, because we're on the couch for 12 consecutive hours.  And, yes, we're dismissing The Playmaker from school at 11:30 so he can join in the fun.

The Boz + 1...

Today we turned 45.  Got to school (complete with a two hour snow delay) and found the following on our desk: a turkey wrap from our favorite deli, a bag of Milano cookies (which we gave to the students) and a gift card to Best Buy.

Well done.

Best two weeks of the sports calendar

Not as good as an entire autumn of college football, but these next two weeks of college hoops -- featuring, gulp, weekday afternoon games are the best on the sporting calendar.

Louisville

Will be in deep trouble in March.  They don't shoot free throws well, and senior Peyton Siva plays like a freshman.

Not good...

Tuesday, March 12, 2013

Ugh...

Why don't fifth grade teachers teach multiplying fractions the way we all learned it growing up?!?

Their new method is stupid.

Utterly stupid.

Memo to Michigan: Learn to hit free throws down the stretch.  Learn to not choke.  Ouch.

Saturday, March 9, 2013

Wow...

Predicted to get 4-8 inches, some said 6-10 inches.

Easily ended up with 20 plus inches of snow.

Love it...

Close call...

Close call today.  Was waiting for The Keurig to finish making our cup of coffee and then we were going to head to school. Finally got text at 6:14.

Snow Day! No School!

Thursday, March 7, 2013

Let it snow...

Supposed to snow for the next 24 hours.

Suh-weet...

Love it...

The Natties tried to show their new found fake toughness today in spring training as Big Baby Strasburg hit Utley in the foot. One inning later Doc Halladay buzzed one behind some clown's head.

Classic...

Hard to believe...

But we took The Playmaker for an hour of batting practice down in the cages this afternoon.

Phillies

Caught three innings of the Phillies game today.  Saw Howard and Dom Brown go yard.  Both on two strike pitches from lefties.

Wow...

T-H-U-D...

Had a 13 point lead in first half.  Led by 10 at halftime.  Up 5 after three quarters.  Somehow lost by 7.  Season over.  We are beyond pissed.
