A new pitcher took the mound for Your Philadelphia Phillies last night. No, it wasn't Jake Peavy. Actually, it was against Jake Peavy. Antonio Bastardo, a 23 year old lefty pitcher, took the mound last night (after two satrs in AAA), filling in for Brett Myers.
And he pitched a better game than Myers has done all season.
He went 6 innings, yielding 4 hits and 1 run (a dinger to Adrian Gonzalez) while striking out 5 batters.
As for Peavy, he got tagged for 4 runs in the first inning and left due to a "viral upper respiratory infection."
