We had prep and planning the last two periods of the day that year, Pit Master. I remember the entire 6th grade staff crowded in that small classroom off of the library, watching the tv in horror and silence. I remember Curriculum Night was the next night, and we held it, and I burst into tears three times on my way in to the building. I remember the email that said "DON'T tell the students what is happening," earlier in the day, but I taught with Smitty that year, and she and I had already let the cat out of the bag.

I remember, Pit Master.
Never, (never!) should have had Curriculum Night.
