Independence Day...

Off to a weird start today.  After yesterday's weigh-in (lost 2.5 lbs), we were scheduled for a day off from The Elliptical today.  Having skipped the day off last week, we had humped the machine for 13 consecutive days.  So, eyeing the big picture and not wanting to completely destroy our right heel -- we did, indeed, take the day off.  And we slept in until ... wait for it ... 7:30!  We seriously can't remember the last time we got up that "late."  When we went downstairs to slam our first cup of coffee on The Keurig, it just felt different.  Add to that the fact that both kids were still asleep (literally), which was unusual as us being in bed until 7:30.  Then, as we headed to The Deck to drink (our coffee) and read Twitter and the newspaper (in that order), we realized it was raining.  Really?!?  It never rains on July 4th.  Can't remember the last time that happened.  So the day has had an almost surreal start to it.

Normalcy will return as we settle in to watch Wimbledon and later fire up the grill.  Chicken wings have been marinading over night.  We will also be doing the normal burgers and dogs.  The new dish will be a lobster salad with red potatoes and kielbasa.  Pictures certainly to follow.

Hope everyone has a great day with friends and family.  (Captain Ray is bringing his family over to eat.  Mr. D said he will come by to test the lobster salad -- which is code for he wants to come and drink beer and then shoot hoops with The Playmaker.)  Enjoy the day.  Stay safe.  And don't point your Roman Candle at anyone.
