Give us some deeeeeeeeeefense...

We don't care who the Eagles draft tonight, as long as the pick is on defense.  All that we ask is that they don't trade down from 15.  (Trading up would be G-R-E-A-T...)  But if you put the water gun to our head?!?

We' want safety Mark Barron of Alabama.

Sheeeeet...

Pissed off.  Lost last night in baseball, 7-1.  Pissed away a 5-0 lead in lax tonight and settled for a 5-5 tie.

Eff off.

A comeback for the ages...

Not really (© Teddy).  But it was still suh-weeeet.  Your Dodgers trailed their opponent on Opening Day Saturday, 3-zip in the bottom of the fifth inning. At that point, we had one hit.  Even worse, we had only put the ball in play twice.  Our worst two hitters started off the inning with walks.  A single put the score at 3-1 with runners on first and second.
p
And up to the plate stepped ... wait for it ... The Playmaker.
p
Now till that point he had been dreadful at the plate, striking out twice.  In fact, he hadn't even been able to muster a foul ball.  First pitch, a crappy strike that was about three inches off the plate.  The next pitch was chest high and right down the chute.  No lie, he effing crushed it.  He unleashed a gapper to left center field that ended up rolling all the way to the fence.  His double cleared the bases, drove in two runs and tied the score at 3-3.  By the time the inning was over we were up, 6-3.  A 1-2-3 6th inning cemented the opening day win.
p
For the game, The Playmaker was 1-3 (double) with 2 RBIs. He played 2 innings at first base, 3 innings at catcher (where he tagged out a runner to end an inning) and 1 inning in center field.
p
Tonight, we face the team that scored 22 runs in their first game.  TWEN--TEE  TWO RUNS!!!  And The Playmaker is slotted to be our second pitcher of the game.
p
Yikes...

Effing cold...

Spent 90 mins in the freezing rain today and came away with a 9-6 win. We are now 3-oh on the season. The Playmaker played the whole game on defense  (ZZZZ). Come back tomorrow for a recap of Saturday's opening day in Little League Baseball.

Oh, yeah.  We're making chicken wings for dinner.

Britney Spears...

Today's post has nothing to do with her.  Instead we'll tell you we did 90 minutes of BP and pitching this morning, followed by 90 minutes of hoops in the late afternoon.

Can you say, dead legs?!?

Sports Update: Working backwards...

Tuesday (Baseball scrimmage): We won, 10-5The Playmaker started at third base.  Second batter of the game hit one to him.  Not only did he make the long throw across the diamond, he threw a perfect strike for the out.  He also played second base and first.  The best thing he did, however, was pitch one inning.  He had one walk, one strikeout and zero hits.  He fielded a ground ball for an out and then caught a pop up for another out.  Great inning of relief.  Unfortunately, he was terrible at the plate.  The Playmaker went 0-2 with a walk, stolen base and run scored.  He ... wait for it ... popped out to the pitcher and the shortstop.  Needless to say, we'll be in The Cage bright and early tomorrow morning.

Sunday (Lacrosse game): We won, 10-3, to improve to 2-0.  The Playmaker (playing attack) notched his second goal of the season.

Saturday (Baseball scrimmage): We won, 4-3.  The Playmaker played second base, catcher and pitcher.  His control was off, as he walked three batters.  He gave up 2 runs (1 unearned).  He did strike out the side.  He was 1-2 from the plate, with a single down the third base line.

First scrimmage of the spring...

We are the Dodgers this year. Our first scrimmage was this morning. We lost, 3-2. The Playmaker drove in both runs with a 2 out, 2 strike, bases loaded single to left field. He started at first base, then moved to center field before sitting out the third (and final) inning.

Good stuff...

Got new Kobes for The Playmaker's spring ball/summer league. Then hit up Cheesecake Factory for lunch.  Came home and sacked out on couch and watched Masters for 3+ hours.

Opening Day...

Caught the final three innings of the Phillies-Pirates game today. Doc Halladay was a machine, albeit with a fastball that was sub 90. Pap came in the 9th inning and dropped the hammer on Pittsburgh. One down, 161 more Ws to get.

Well that took less than four minutes...

Last year it took about four games.  This season, it took less than four minutes.

One lacrosse game in the books, one goal for The Playmaker.

Sunday we crushed it, smoking the opposition to the tune of ... wait for it ... 13-1.  It was 2-0 when The Playmaker's shift took the field in the first quarter.  Playing attack, he got a quick shot -- only to get stonewalled by the goalies' leg.  About 90 seconds later he got the ball about 12 feet in front of the cage.  This time he fired low to the left corner of the cage.  G-O-A-L.  Later in the game he also added an assist.

Good stuff.

"He raked today. Hit it better than anyone else."

rake v. in baseball, to hit well.

Hit the diamond at 10:00 this morning for our second team practice.  Thirty minutes of infield/outfield, followed by 30 of hitting.

When The Playmaker got his turn in the box, he was on.  Two hard grounders.  One line drive up the middle.  Then he unloaded two bombs to left field.  (He was the only one out of 8 kids who hit the ball in the air to the outfield.)

Later this afternoon the head coach (we are the assistant) texted us.  "He raked today.  Hit it better than anyone else."
