Update we've been weighting on...

Dropped four pounds since last week (our biggest one week loss since we started in April), giving us a total weight loss of 24 pounds in three months.  That's our final weigh-in of the summer, as we leave at the end of next week to head into The Basement for 14 days.

Maybe ... Yes ... Yes ... Yes ... Only if

Trade Cliff Lee to Texas?!?  Only if Lee wants to go there.  And only if Mike Olt comes as part of the return package.

Trade Buster Blanton?!?  Yes.  We're not resigning him anyway.  Plus, he's been our best pitcher the last month.  He should be able to get us a good bullpen arm.

Trade Juan Pierre?!?  Yes.  We picked him up off the scrap heap.  Flip him for two solid prospects.

Trade Shane Victorino?!?  Yes.  He's wants a five year deal, which the Phillies would never be dumb enough to go for.  He can get you one good prospect.

Trade Hunter Pence?!?  Only if the Phillies get an awesome deal.  Otherwise, they can get more for him over the winter.  Unless they want to go to arbitration and shell out $14 mill for a slightly above average hitter.

Phillies

Invested two hours watching them this afternoon, only to see Bastardo piss away a two run lead in the 8th.  Got mad and took The Playmaker to get our heads shaved and then down to the courts for a fullcourt workout.  Got home and watched the 10th inning comeback on the DVR.

Wow.

Championship Friday

Basketball camp ended today.  The Playmaker made it to the finals of the One Minute Shooting, as well as the Weak Hand Drill.  More impressive: He won the one-on-one tournament.  A double elimination tournament, he did not lose a single game.  His team lost the camp championship, 18-16, in sudden death double overtime.  He scored 4 points on 2-3 shooting and had 2 assists.

Thursday, July 19, 2012

Good stuff...

The Playmaker had 10 points (5-8 shooting) in tonight's summer league game.  He also had three rebounds, three dimes and a blocked shot.  His team won to improve to 4-0.

If you are out of your 30s and you still mousse or gel your hair, you are a flaming idiot.  A total tool.

OK?!?

A ring...

The Playmaker's team (Louisville, of course) won the camp championship on Friday, 22-20.  (This after being up 22-10.)  He ran the point most of the game and had 4 points (2-4 shooting).  In the one-on-one tournament, he lost in the semi-finals.  The second (and final) week of camp starts tomorrow.

Basketball...Basketball...Basketball

The Playmaker's four-on-four team lost in the semi-finals at camp today.  In his regular afternoon game, he had 8 points on 4-4 shooting.  He then had a Metro summer league game tonight and scored 6 points (3-4 shooting), including the first hoop of the game.  He also had 2 assists and 4 rebounds.  His team won to improve to 3-0.

Camp...

In his morning game, The Playmaker missed a six foot banker at the buzzer to win the game.  In the afternoon game he sank a clutch pull-up jumper from the foul line to bring his team back from 10 down to tie the game with under two minutes to play.  They went on to win by four.  Also, his
two-on-two team won the championship today.  They finished with a nifty 8-0 record.

Yikes...

Monday, July 9, 2012

Day one...

The Playmaker's team went 2-0 on the first day of camp today.  He played very well in the morning game, scoring 10 points on 5-8 shooting.  He struggled in the afternoon game, scoring just 4 points on 2-7 shooting.

Independence Day...

Off to a weird start today.  After yesterday's weigh-in (lost 2.5 lbs), we were scheduled for a day off from The Elliptical today.  Having skipped the day off last week, we had humped the machine for 13 consecutive days.  So, eyeing the big picture and not wanting to completely destroy our right heel -- we did, indeed, take the day off.  And we slept in until ... wait for it ... 7:30!  We seriously can't remember the last time we got up that "late."  When we went downstairs to slam our first cup of coffee on The Keurig, it just felt different.  Add to that the fact that both kids were still asleep (literally), which was unusual as us being in bed until 7:30.  Then, as we headed to The Deck to drink (our coffee) and read Twitter and the newspaper (in that order), we realized it was raining.  Really?!?  It never rains on July 4th.  Can't remember the last time that happened.  So the day has had an almost surreal start to it.

Normalcy will return as we settle in to watch Wimbledon and later fire up the grill.  Chicken wings have been marinading over night.  We will also be doing the normal burgers and dogs.  The new dish will be a lobster salad with red potatoes and kielbasa.  Pictures certainly to follow.

Hope everyone has a great day with friends and family.  (Captain Ray is bringing his family over to eat.  Mr. D said he will come by to test the lobster salad -- which is code for he wants to come and drink beer and then shoot hoops with The Playmaker.)  Enjoy the day.  Stay safe.  And don't point your Roman Candle at anyone.

Rumors today that the 76ers are one of four teams in play to get Dwight Howard.

Um.

No thanks.

Total douchebag who's never won squat

We suck...

Trade Sucktorino.  Then move Hamels for the motherload.  Limit Doc's second half innings.  Demote Lee to the 'pen.  Bring up Dom Brown and let him play every day in center.
