Everyone know who we are...

Fresh off of last Tuesday's defeat of the first place team, we beat the second place team today, 49-46.  We are now tied for second place.  The Playmaker score all 6 of his points in the fourth quarter.  He took a 1-4 iso play, got a pick from his center and drove for a layup.  Two minutes later he scored on a give and go.  Later, he got fouled after grabbing a defensive rebound.  He hit both ends of the one and one.  For the game, he had 6 points (2-3 shooting), 2 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 steal and 1 turnover.  He was the starting shooting guard and also played 4 minutes at the point.

We'll see...

Had final AAU tryout today.  It was a grueling 90 minutes of 1-1 play, as well as full court 5-5.  The Playmaker was good for the first 45 minutes, no so good in the final 30.

We'll see what happens...

Final Metro Practice of the Year...

And the final 15 minutes we had the dads and boys play knockout and shoot foul shots.  The dads and boys tied on free throws with five each. (The Playmaker and his Old Man each hit their foul shots.)  As for the knockout?!?  We made it to the finals where we squared off with the other assistant coach.  The result?!?

It's good to be The Champion.

Well, what do you know?!?

Just got the text.  No school tomorrow.  Already hit the market for: burgers, fresh chicken wings, dogs, cold cuts, steak tips, pork, cantaloupe and a fresh tank of propane.

Maybe the White Death will visit after all.

Super Bowl...

1. We're pulling for the 49ers tonight.  We love Jim Harbaugh.  We'd take him on the Eagles or at OU in second. Best coach in football.

2. We like John Harbaugh.  People forget he was the special teams coach of the Eagles a while back. Good coach.  Very good man.

3. We can't stand Ray Lewis.  Total fraud.  People singing his praises as a man should be ashamed of themselves.  Bad dude.

4. Prediction: 49ers 24 Ravens 20.

AAU...

Had AAU tryouts this morning.  There were/are 32 kids trying out for the 12 man team.  Final tryout two weeks from today.

Fingers crossed...

2x4=4-4

The Playmaker's Metro team won today to even its record to 4-4.  The Playmaker started at shooting guard. He had 2 points (1-3 shooting, drilled a 10 foot baseline jumper), 2 rebounds, 2 assists and 2 steals.  He also had just 1 turnover, lowest on the team.

We'll say it AGAIN...

You can't win a National Championship with Peyton Siva as your point guard.

Who knew?!?

Guess yesterday's "50 Make Workout" in the 20 degree weather paid off.  At last night's Metro practice, The Playmaker dominated the 20 minute scrimmage.  He had 6 points (3-5 shooting), 2 assists and 3 rebounds.  His baskets came on a layup and two foul line jumpers.  However, it was a missed shot that drew literal "oohs" from a group of fathers standing baseline.  He drove left from the foul line, crossed over right, hesitated (standing straight up), then bolted past his man down the lane.  He then encountered a big, got the shot up and over, but back-rimmed it.  Still, the four dads saw it and hooted and hollered.

Thursday, January 24, 2013

Wow...

Went outside after school with The Playmaker to shoot hoops.  We stayed out until he hit 50 shots ... then we ran in.  Coldest day we can remember.  Maybe ever.

Sucking at what you do...

Dear Mr./Miss/Ms./Mrs. Meteorologist,

You SUCK at what you do.  Unless what you do is SUCK.  In that case, you are AWESOME at your job.  Given all the tools at your disposal, it should be relatively EASY to predict the weather with a good amount of accuracy.  But you NEVER do.  You BLOW.  In fact, you blow CHUNKS.  You haven't gotten a snow storm forecast right in over 10 years.  That is an effing FACT.  Last night, you said we would get 2-4 inches of snow.  What did we get?!?  A whole HALF INCH of the white stuff.  Apparently the "storm" went out to sea.  Funny that yesterday you NEVER said that was even an option.  If people go to HELL for sucking at their jobs, you are DESTINED to end up there.

At least you won't have to worry about snow down there.
