Christmas Saturday

This is a great day of the year -- the First Saturday in December. That's when we officially get into Holiday Christmas Mode! We went out first thing this morning and picked out a 7.5 foot Fraser Christmas Tree. Brought it home (see pic) and, with The Playmaker's Sister's help, got that bad boy into the stand and (semi) straight. (Memo to all Women's Libbers: The Misses did not help with the stand.) The stray needles have been vacuumed up and the tree has been hydrated. Now it will sit until dinner time, errrrrrrrr, halftime of the Florida-Alabama game. Then we will decorate it and enjoy it while OU pistol-whips Mizzou.

Speaking of which...onto the games:

Virginia Tech vs. Boston College -- The Eagles and Coach Jags (love the leather coat, Fonz, errrr, Jags!) have had a wonderful season and have already defeated Vah-Tech once this season. However, BC quarterback Chris Crane is injured and done for the year. As underwhelming as BC's offense will look at times today, Tech's will be even worse. We'll say BC 17 Virginia Tech 10.

Florida vs. Alabama -- This amounts to a sem-final game, with the winner advancing to the BCS Title Game. The Playmaker loves the Gators. However, we (as in Oklahoma) want no part of Florida come January. If we get matched up with Alabama, however, you can give us the National Championship right now. 'Bama's got a good D, but not much Oh. Florida has a good D, good Oh (though Percy Harvin is injured) and too much speed. Gators 27 Alabama 17.

Missouri vs. Oklahoma -- We are, of course, worried for Our Sooners. Mobile QBs like Chase Daniel always give OU problems. Jeremy Macklin is the most dangerous kick returner in the country and the Sooners have given up four kick returns for scores this season. Finally, Sam Bradford has a bad left thumb. Still...Oklahoma 42 Missouri 31.

Finally, how hard do you think Chris Fowler laughed when he watched Jason Whitlock's Ball State Cardinals team cough up the MAC title to Buffalo 42-24 last night?!?
