We're still waiting...

For someone to show us, explain to us, prove to us why Florida is getting a free pass in this whole one loss debate that rages on with Oklahoma, Texas and Texas Tech. In year's past, playing in the SEC would be reason enough to give 11-1 Florida street cred.

But not this year. No, the SEC is a clear runner-up to the mighty Big 12 in terms of being the top conference in the land. Florida has played and defeated four teams that were ranked at the time. However, upon further inspection those rankings all turned out to be completely bogus. On October 11, the Gators beat then number 4 LSU. LSU finished the season out of the top 25 with a woeful 7-5 record. They defeated then number 6 Georgia 49-10. By season's end, the Dawgs sank to number 16. Next, Florida beat then number 25 South Carolina. This past week, the Cocks dropped out of the top 25 with a mediocre 7-5 record. And just last Saturday, UF took down then number 20 Florida State. Somehow, the Noles remain in the top 25 -- ending the season at number 24.

To summarize, the Gators played one team (one!) that finished in the top 25. Sure, they play top ranked Alabama in the SEC Championship this weekend. But, wait a minute. What did the Crimson Tide do to get the top spot?!? Oh, that's right -- they beat then number 1 Georgia. A feat that two other teams also went on to do. Of course, The Tide also beat then number 9...wait for it...Clemson, as well as then number 16 LSU. Wow. Very impressive.

But we digress.

The bottom line is, instead of blasting the fact OU got the nod over Texas, people should be questioning why Florida is in line to play for the National Title.
