J-Roll...

That stuff we said when the playoffs started about not having high expectations for the Phillies and, as such, we were not going to stress out during the playoffs?

Yeah, that lasted about 30 seconds into the Colorado series.

It's impossible for us not to stress out during the playoffs.

So there we were last night in the bottom of the 6th, trailing the Dodgers by one run with two outs and runners on first and third. Raul Ibanez sliced a sinking liner to left field. And just as the game was about to be tied, Manny pulled a defensive gem out of his ass and somehow managed to catch the ball just before it hit the ground.

Manny making a defensive play?!?

Manny hustling?!?

Those were signs, to be sure. Pissed off, we sulked up to bed -- sure that the Phillies were heading for a loss.

However, we did The Blackberry with us.

We tossed and turned, too agitated to fall asleep. Every five minutes or so, we peaked at the score. (Making sure to do so under the covers so as to not wake up The Wife.)

Seventh inning. No change. Eighth inning. No change. With that, we turned off The Blackberry and set it on the nightstand.

Five minutes later we decided to check one final time. Matt Stairs had walked. Carlos Ruiz got clipped on the elbow, First and second with one out. Greg Dobbs made out number two. Even worse, he failed to move the runners over. The Blackberry said Jimmy Rollins was batting.

Thirty seconds later the auto-refresh said PHILLIES 5 DODGERS 4.

We flew out of bed and descended the steps downstairs and turned on the 50 Incher. Pandemonium was reigning at The Bank. Through the magic of the almighty DVR, we were able to rewind and watch the whole 9th inning unfold.

Unfrigging believable.
