Packers 16 Eagles 13

Well, a few more games like today and the Donovan McNabb and Andy Reid eras will both come to a crashing halt at season's end. If not sooner. Off-season questions focused on the health of McNabb's knee and the Eagle defense.

No one thought they would struggle on offense.

Today, their offense was pathetic. McNabb was terrible. The play calling of Reid's Best Friend, Marty Morningwig, was as predictable as a pee-wee coach's. Probably even more so. Inside sources reveal that this is what Morningwig was saying to McNabb through the headset in his helmet.

First down: Hey, D-McNabb. Let's hand the ball off to Brian Westbrook.

Second down: Hey, #5. Throw a swing pass to Westbrook.

Third down: OK, Don. Let's hit 'em with another pass in the flats to Westbrook.

Fourth down: Darn. Those plays only gained us six yards. I guess we have to punt. Next time we get it back, let's work it to Westbrook.
Pretty ingenious stuff, no?

McNabb completed just 15 of 33 passes. Six of those were rinky-dink passes to Westbrook, resulting in a whopping 46 yards (most of which Westbrook earned on his own after the catch). In fact, Westbrook had nearly half the team's total yards from scrimmage. At this rate, he will last three more games. Maybe not even.

As for Reid, over the years his team has laid multiple eggs on opening day. However, none were as bad as this one. Stupid penalties. Abysmal play calling. Turnovers. And the special teams play today was the worst I have seen. Ever.

Somehow I thought these guys were going 10-6 this season. If today is a barometer, maybe 6-10 is how it will end. And McNabb, who is due a huge roster bonus next spring, can go throw his third-and-10 passes for three yards on another team. And maybe even Reid will have some extra free time to spend with his troubled drug abusing, gun toting sons.
