A 9-yr old Ryan Madson

The Playmaker made his pitching debut this morning. Trailing 9-8, he came in for the fifth inning.

First batter: walk.

Second batter: strikeout, swinging.

Third batter: infield single off third baseman's glove

Fourth batter: throwing error by second basemen.

At that point the bases were loaded. And we were ready to go All-Joe McCoy on the second baseman.

Thankfully, there was no need for that. For before we could go All-Joe McCoy, The Playmaker went All-Ryan Madson (2-0, 8-8 saves, 0.50 ERA, 23 K's in 18 innings). He stuck the next kid out on four pitches and then induced the following batter (best hitter on the other team) to pop out to ... wait for it ... The Playmaker. (Even better, as it was the son of a girl we went to college with. In your face, Walnut Heights!)

So while we lost 9-8, and The Playmaker went 0-2 at the plate (with a run producing walk), it was still a great day.
