Happy New Year

As a kid growing up (long before cable), New Year's Day meant hunkering down in the family room. Our Dad would build a fire in the family room (after asking us to go in the woods and get small branches to use as kindling). Our Mom would lay out a spread of fresh cold cuts, complete with condiments each in their own bowl (something that only happened on January 1st). Then it was left to us to go and get two more televisions to bring into the room -- all the better to monitor the plethora of bowl games. One was...wait for it...a 15 inch black and white set. The other was a 15 inch color one, which actually came with a...wait for it...again...a remote control.

Today, we will have the Christmas Tree on and settle down in front of just one TV -- our beloved 50 inch DLP HD. There will be no fire (the fire place is in the living room). But there will be cold cuts, of course. Followed by grilled steaks.

Build (or continue) your own tradition today. Enjoy the games. And Happy New Year!
