Ohio State, please (PLEASE!) go away

If we never see the Ohio State Buckeyes play another football game, we will be happy. Seriously, how many times must we watch them crap the bed in a BCS bowl game?!? And just when it looked like they might actually win a BCS game, what did they do?!? Why they played stupid defense, of course. And in the process allowed hated texASS to drive 78 yards in...wait for it...one minute and 42 seconds.

How did they Buckeyes allow that to happen after limiting texASS to just three first half points?!? They stopped doing what made them so successful. The only way OS-Who kept Colt McCoy in check was by blitzing him nearly every play. When they got to him, texASS's offense fizzled. When they were unable to get to him, McCoy (41-59-414) carved up the Ohio State secondary.

So after taking the lead 21-17 with 2:05 left in the game, OS-Who did what LOSERS always do. They went into the prevent defense. Bam! Game over! Thanks for the gift, Coach Tressel! Ironically, on the winning play (a 26-yard TD pass to Quan Cosby) it looked like the Buckeyes were trying to blitz. But it came off as half blitz-half prevent. The end result was a wide open middle of the field and a pass rush that was nil. (Nil!) Mix in a missed tackle and their fate was sealed.

After the game, of course, the Shorthorns had nothing but good, errrrrrrr, great things to say about Ohio State's defense. However, it is an A-B-S-O-L-U-T-E fact (fact!) that Oklahoma would have hung half a hundred on the Buckeyes, no problem. OS-Who had no clue how to stop the passing game.

And then there was McCoy, who, doing his best Coach Pete impression said, "I don't think there's anyone in the country who can beat us at this point." (Apparently he forgot about the 4th and 3 play on the final drive where the Buckeyes stopped texASS -- only to have an official from the other side of the field come over and RE-SPOT the ball to give texASS the half-yard it needed to get the first down!)

The saving grace in this travesty is texASS so underwhelmed the national audience that there is NO WAY they will get a sniff of the National Title. (Of course texASS coach Lack Crown has already announced he is voting the Shorthorns number one.)
