Do not disturb!

We are tired and grumpy. Somehow, some way, a bunch of 6-year olds losing a flag football game has put a damper on Our Life. Yes, the Packers lost 20-7 to the Lions last night. We started with the ball (having won a classic rock-paper-scissors-shoot "coin toss") and quickly scored in three plays (one incomplete pass, one 30-yard run and a 10-yard scoring pass). The Playmaker tacked on the extra point by catching a down-and-in-pass in the end zone. After that, well, things didn't go so well.

Alas, 24 hours later -- we still have not gotten over the loss. (Our wife thinks we are mentally ill.)

After the game, we attempted to cool off by stopping for ice cream with The Playmaker. He was as distraught as we were. (Like father, like son, right?!?) Flashing back to that 1980 Lifesaver commercial with the father and son, we proceeded to tell The Playmaker that you can't win every game. You just need to try your hardest and have fun. Thankfully, he is not old enough to have realized the line of bullsheeeeeeeeeet we were feeding him. Nor did he comprehend that his Old Man takes these things way too seriously and does, in fact, expect to win every game.

After two minutes of ice cream (Cookies -N-Cream), he was fine (the beauty of kids). Not so for The Head Ball Coach. Upon returning home we got the kids tubbed/showered and in bed. After a quick meal on the grill (sausages), we collapsed on the couch watching (The New!) 90210 with the Mrs. That lasted about 60 seconds, when we decided to multi-task. Not only would we kill brain cells watching trashy (or is it crappy?!?) TV, we would also be working on tomorrow night's game plan. (We play da the Bears.) Fewer plays (like three basic ones). Fewer long passes (like nothing over 10 yards). Better spacing on offense. And yes, we will try to remember that we are working with 6-year olds and ultimately the Wins or Losses don't mean anything.

On that note, we are not thinking about Flag Football until tomorrow night. We will go home...Kiss the kids coming off the bus and have a relaxing afternoon of Phillies Playoffs, a little college football on PS3, maybe some Uno and then some reading with the kids.

That is sure to make us feel better. (Hopefully.)
