Sunday Morning Thoughts...

1. Perhaps the dumbest thing we have EVER heard was Desmond Howard saying yesterday that if Oklahoma beats Texas Tech by less than 10 points in next Saturday's showdown, the Red Raiders will remain ahead of the Sooners in the polls. And, yes, he was serious. For such stupidity he should be fired.

2. Classic that after interviewing, like, 15 coaching candidates this week, Clemson went out and gonged Duke, 31-6. That undoubtedly made interim-soon-to-be-ex coach Darko Milicic Dabo Swinney feel good.

3. About the only time it's even remotely fun to watch the Crap Ten Big Ten is in November when it's windy, freezing cold and spitting snow flakes. As such, we actually enjoyed viewing Northwestern at Michigan, as well as Ohio State at Illinois. By the way, how Michigan could be so void of skill position talent is an indictment on how lazy Lloyd Carr had become at recruiting during his twilight years. Hell, you could walk on campus right now and be an impact player at wide receiver or QB.

4. Todd McShay's man crush on OUr quarterback Sam Bradford is now starting to worry us. The redshirt sophomore is now rated by McShay as the second overall prospect in next April's draft. We think NFL teams will worry about Tommy Bradford's slight frame and want him to stay in school, but still...

5. We laughed so hard we almost threw up yesterday listening to ESPN go on and on about how "great" Florida State's defense is. Memo to ESPN: It is downright easy to have good stats when you play in the ACC (Always Crappy Conference). And so we squealed with delight watching mortal Boston College (Boston College!) gut the Seminoles for 27 points and go 9-16 on third downs in their 27-17 win last night. By the Way, Part II: FSU's program is simply out of control on and off the field. Jimbo Fisher's assistant, Bobbby Bowden, has suspended something like 72 different 'Noles in the past two years. Last night, they made countless stupid penalties. And then when the game was over, they tried to fight the Eagles. Once you get past the Myron Rolle PR stuff, that program is an utter disgrace.

6. What's a stronger statement: LSU coming back from a 28-point hole at home against mighty...wait for it...Troy or the fact that Lester's boys are so under-achieving that they allowed themselves to be put in that position in the first place?!?

7. We are now confident that at least five teams could easily handle top ranked Alabama: Texas Tech, Texas, Florida, Oklahoma and Southern Cal. And Oklahoma State and Missouri would be at least toss-ups.
