Jets 16 Patriots 9

Coach Bill's Patriots have a ton of problems:

1. The offensive line can't consistently run block and they are woeful on pass blocking! We actually don't know if they can run block consistently, because the Patriots never (never!) try to consistently run the ball. They only seem to run to give Tom Brady a breather. And for the second week in a row, their pass blocking was woeful. Did the Jets blitz and bring extra rushers almost every down? Yup. Did the Pats do even a decent job of picking up the pressure? Um, no. And we don't claim to watch the offensive line closely on TV, but we firmly believe that tackle Matt Light sucks. And sucks badly.

2. They have one playmaker on offense! If Randy Moss ain't getting touches, how will the Patriots ever score?!? Joey Galloway may still run a sweet 40 yard dash (allegedly), but he is no longer elusive. He never makes defenders miss after the catch.

3. Tom Brady is, well, he's not Tom Brady! Too much grape feeding from Gisele? Too much shopping for homes in the exclusive towns of Dover and Sherborn? Not enough time working with his new receivers? Afraid to stay in the pocket because of The Knee? Who knows for sure?!? But today was perhaps the worst we have ever seen him play. Ever.

4. Their defense blows against the pass! Again, they have one playmaker on defense -- Vince Wilfork, who for the second straight week was outstanding. Not having Jerod Mayo at inside backer is, obviously, a huge loss. But is Gary Guyton really an upgrade over Tedy Bruschi?!? He constantly gets torched on the field. At least Bruschi would offer brains and leadership. Oh, but wait -- that's right, Guyton is a better athlete. (Good to know.)

Two weeks does not make a season. But they won last week when Buffalo gave the game away at the end. Today, the Pats lost because they could not stop a rookie QB in the second half. (Remember the days when Belichick's D preyed on rookie QBs?!?)

It just got real interesting in Foxboro.
