Time for a Big Change in Norman...

We had a notebook full of anecdotes, facts and observations ready to upload here today. Then Trent Williams, the guy who came back to win a title and become a #1 draft pick, whiffed on a block and got Sam Bradford, the Heisman QB who came back to win a title and then be the #1 pick in the draft, slammed into the turf on his million dollar shoulder.

Presto.

Game over. Season over.

If Big Game Boob Stoops has any stones left in his lazy body, he will tell Bradford that no matter what the MRI and doctors tell him, Bradford's next game will be in the NFL.

Oh, and there was no guarantee the Sooners were headed for the W even if Bradford had played in the second half. Their new O-line was terrible. Honestly, it was the worst effort we have ever seen in a football game. Ever!

Big Game Boob's problem is all his good assistants have left him. They won the national title back in 2000. On Big Game Boob's staff was Mark Mangino and Mike Stoops. The year before they had The Pirate himself, Mike Leach.

When they all left, Big Game Boob hired or promoted his closest friends. He let Brett Venables run the D. Kevin Wilson run the O. And Bobby Jack Wright coach the defensive backs.

Venables, perhaps the top recruiter in the land, is woefully over-matched calling the shots on D. Wilson likes to portray himself as a tough guy. But his offense lacks imagination and variety. (He damn near got Adrian Peterson killed his last two seasons at OU.) And poor Bobby Jack. He seems like a great guy. He just has no clue how to coach DBs.

Back in the day, we quivered every off-season when rumors of Stoops leaving for Florida or some NFL team would make their annual appearance. Funny, those rumors don't pop up much anymore. Instead, they are saved for Coach Pete, Urban Meyer and Nick Saban.

Too bad. Because Stoops has done what was once unthinkable. He has outlived his time in Norman.

It's time for a change.
